Wales could be without Rhys Webb for their summer tour of South Africa after the Ospreys confirmed he needs surgery on a knee injury.

Webb was forced off the field in the 56th minute of the Ospreys' 11-9 defeat to Glasgow on Friday and while the Ospreys have not confirmed how long Webb is set to be out for, the news he requires surgery will worry the Welsh coaching staff ahead of their two-Test tour in June.

"Rhys had a scan on Monday which excluded any signs of ligament damage," Ospreys' medical performance manager Chris Towers said. "However, he has gone to London for keyhole surgery to deal with a cartilage problem. Following discussions with the surgeon post-operation, we will be in a better position to discuss any potential return to play date."
