Wales' Gavin Henson is hopeful of earning an international recall but is unsure whether his dreams are realistic or not.

Henson penned a new one-year deal with Bath on Wednesday and spurned advances from the Dragons to return back to Wales. Henson has found his first-team opportunities at Bath limited but he put in a man-of-the-match performance against Brive on Sunday.

That performance caused some to call for Henson to be included in the mix for Wales' tour of South Africa in June. While he is yet to hear from the management, he would love to turn out for Wales again, something he last did in 2011.

"I will never close the door on my country," Henson told the Daily Telegraph. "As long as I'm playing, I'm still available. Whether or not that's closed on the other side of the bridge, I'm not sure."

Henson's off-field problems have been well documented and the start of his Bath career saw him involved in an altercation with a team-mate in a local pub. But since then Henson has been making his headlines on the field and he claims any off-field indiscretions are a thing of the past.

"I'm grateful that I have come through it and feel so fresh mentally. I am enjoying every second of the training and playing and this environment has helped me, feeding off the youngsters. I want to play as long as I can, I have no thoughts of finishing."
