Wales captain Sam Warburton is facing an uncertain future following reports the regions are still against picking any player who has a central contract.
Warburton has been playing for the Cardiff Blues this term but he opted to sign a central contract with the WRU, a decision that could leave him without a region next term. The regions and the WRU are still locked in a battle over getting a new Participation Agreement signed and until that is resolved, the regions are adamant they will not pick any player next season who has a central contract with the WRU, according to the Rugby Paper.
The WRU reportedly earmarked six of Wales' top players for central contracts earlier this season. At present they have just one, Warburton, as Leigh Halfpenny opted for a move to Toulon and Alun Wyn Jones, Scott Williams and Rhys Priestland all re-signed with their respective region.
While Warburton went for a central contract, tight-head Adam Jones is yet to reveal his hand with his region the Ospreys and the WRU reportedly locked in a battle over his services.
