James Hook could stay in the Top 14 even if his Perpignan side are relegated from the French top flight on Saturday.
Hook's Perpignan are favourites for the drop as they travel to Clermont on Saturday, a team who have not lost at their Stade Marcel Michelin base in 76 matches. If Perpignan do drop down to the PRO D2, a number of their stars would probably look for pastures new and Hook is on newly promoted side Lyon's radar, according to Wales Online.
Ex-Wales winger Shane Williams said Hook would thrive in Japan but such a transfer would signal an end to his Wales hopes.
While Hook is weighing up his future, his Perpignan and Wales team-mate Luke Charteris would also be probably looking for a new club if they lose to Clermont on Saturday. He too could stay in France with Bordeaux-Begles and Racing Metro rumoured to be keen on his services.
