Just hours after London Welsh coach Justin Burnell expressed his interest in signing Wales tight-head Adam Jones, the prop's management ruled out a move to the Aviva Premiership club and instead said his future will become clearer in the coming days.

Jones is currently without a club and has been linked with a host of new destinations. There was a time when it looked like Jones would re-sign with the Ospreys or pen a central contract with the WRU but recently, Jones has been linked with moves over the Severn Bridge to Sale or Bristol with Toulon also reportedly keen.

But it seems he will not be off to London Welsh, who have already signed 24 players this summer. Burnell said he was keen to sign the prop, telling Wales Online: "I would love to have Adam on board. I genuinely believe he is one of the best tight heads in the world, if not the best. When somebody of his calibre becomes available, you have to be interested.

"If a deal could be done, I would have him here tomorrow. For someone like me, who looks to play a forward-orientated, direct game, he would be perfect. And what a great statement it would be for London Welsh to sign a world renowned player like him.

"But it wouldn't just be a publicity stunt by us. He is a phenomenal, world-class player with a proven track record. The contribution he would make would enhance our ability to compete in the Premiership."

However, such a pipedream was quickly rebuffed by Jones' management team on their Twitter account.
