Wales skipper Sam Warburton is set to make his return to the field against the Leicester Tigers on Friday evening.

Warburton's last match came in the Six Nations when he was on Wales duty against Scotland. He dislocated his shoulder in the last few minutes of that game and spent the rest of the season on the sidelines.

He was fit to play in Cardiff's first pre-season game, which came against Exeter, but due to the talks between the Welsh Rugby Union and the four regions over the new Participation Agreement, he was left out due to being on a central contract.

But following Thursday's announcement of a new deal between the WRU and the regions, Warburton is now free to return to the field as the regions have waived their policy of not picking anyone on a central contract.

And Cardiff Blues coach Mark Hammett, who was speaking at the launch of the new Guinness PRO12 season, says Warburton is ready to go. "He [Warburton] is the fittest he's ever been, he's just fizzing to get back into it."
