England should look to Nick Easter to fill the void left by the injured Ben Morgan, according to World Cup-winner Lawrence Dallaglio.

Morgan suffered a fractured leg on Friday night and after undergoing surgery, he looks set to miss the rest of the season, a spell which includes the Six Nations. His misfortune is likely to see Billy Vunipola promoted back into the starting XV for the match against Wales on February 6 but Dallaglio feels the time is right to bring Easter back in from the cold.

Easter last played for England in the 2011 Rugby World Cup but after a Man of the Match performance on Saturday against Leicester and alongside Morgan's injury, he has been put forward as a possible replacement.

"England need the best players playing," Dallaglio says in the Daily Mirror. "With a home World Cup fast approaching they have got to do well in this Six Nations. Nick is an option that needs to be considered. He's the best No.8 in the Premiership at the moment.

"That doesn't necessarily mean he should feature in the World Cup but winning that opening Six Nations game in Wales is massively important."

However Dallaglio says Vunipola is the next cab off the rank. Dallaglio added: "England need to consider their options over the next two weeks of European competition. There's Vunipola playing against Munster and Clermont, Easter against Wasps and Castres and Steffon Armitage against Scarlets and Ulster. I would say all three of them merit consideration."
