Wales boss Warren Gatland has revealed there are four-five new dual contracts on the verge of being announced.

The Welsh Rugby Union currently has seven players on dual contracts - deals which are part funded by the union and the player's region. Sam Warburton was the first to pen such a deal with Dan Lydiate, Jake Ball, Rhodri Jones, Samson Lee, Tyler Morgan and Hallam Amos following suit.

The last mention of dual contracts concerned Alex Cuthbert's decision to turn down such a deal but Gatland says they are on the verge of confirming a new batch.

"I think we're very close to announcing a number of players over the next week or so - another four or five players," Gatland told the BBC. "Then we have another group of contracts to issue and after that we've probably run out of money, but having said that we'll have ended up with hopefully 15 to 17 players who will have signed in the next four to six weeks.

"Ideally with dual contracts you'd get to 25 players and keep topping that number up [and that] would probably be enough for us."
