European Shield draw made

The draw for the European Shield was made in Dublin on Friday with the news that the winners will earn automatic qualification to the Heineken Cup.

There are 32 teams in the competition, which was won last year by Pau, in eight pools. The full draw was:

Pool 1: Cross Keys, Begles, Treviso, Newcastle.

Pool 2: Montferrand, Neath, Connacht, Beziers.

Pool 3: Rotherham, Grenoble, Bridgend, Perpignan.

Pool 4: Caerphilly, Agen Auch ,Sale.

Pool 5: Harlequins, Perigueux, Dax, Ebbw Vale.

Pool 6: Brive, Piacenza, Toulon, London Irish.

Pool 7: Bristol, Mont-de-Marsan, Parma, La Rochelle.

Pool 8: Narbonne, Viadana, Bourgin, Romania.
