Wales on verge of sponsorship deal

The red shirt of Wales may soon be emblazoned with a corporate sponsor if plans to market the space are successful.

The Internatioanl Management Group , IMG, are dealing with the issue on behalf of the WRU and it is hoped it will be completed in timw for the autumn internationals against Samoa, the USA and South Africa.

WRU chairman Glanmor Griffiths said, "I am satisfied IMG will be in a position to put recommendations to us by autumn. Talks are advanced."

It is not yet clear what name will appear on the shirt but the Wales national side have an existing £1.3m a year deal with Reebok to produce their shirt.
