Henry's Euro switch bid fails

Attempts by Welsh coach Graham Henry to have the dates of the Heineken Cup switched have fallen on deaf ears among the competition's organisers.

A Welsh newspaper has claimed that Henry wrote to the ERC in a bid to have the final two group rounds and the quarter finals, which are all in January, moved back so that test teams had a longer preparation period before the Six Nations.

The South Wales Evening Post quote Henry as saying, "I got no change, but at least I voiced my opinion and got it off my chest. We have a long way to go to get the structure right in this part of the world. We have competitions finishing at the same time and a disregard for the Six Nations and its importance, and we have the Lions tour on top of that."
