Uruguay to tour Wales
November 15, 2001

Uruguay's national side are to make a quick tour of Wales, beginning with a match against Newport this Sunday.

Then Uruguay will take on Neath at the Gnoll on Tuesday evening and end the tour with a match against a Wales A side at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday November 24.

Uruguay played in the 1999 World Cup, losing to Scotland and South Africa before beating Spain 27-15.

They face a Newport side skippered by Springbok prop Adrian Garvey and including Italian full-back Matt Pini and Wales A players Matthew Watkins, Ben Breeze and Jonathan Pritchard in the backs.

Shane Howarth, Rod Snow, Chris Anthony and Junior Tonu'u will all be on the replacements bench.

The match at Cardiff will follow immediately after a curtain-raiser between the Cardiff club and Cambridge University.
