McIntosh could follow Lewis out of Newport
January 23, 2002

Newport coach Ian McIntosh is set to follow director of rugby Allan Lewis out of Rodney Parade.

Lewis announced his decision to quit the Black and Ambers yesterday and McIntosh, who agreed a one-season contract with Newport backer Tony Brown before taking over the coaching reins from Lewis last summer, could be next to go.

Brown told the Western Mail, "I would like to think that Ian will be with us for another season, but he has not yet made up his mind.

"Ian will make his decision soon because if he decides not to stay, we will have to start looking elsewhere."

Current Gloucester backs coach and former Newpoert fly-half Paul Turner would be favourite for a return to Rodney Parade if McIntosh decided to call it a day.

The Black and Ambers are favourites to lift the Welsh-Scottish League title after beating an under-strength Llanelli at Rodney Parade last Friday night.
