Moore issues warning as he leaves Swansea

Lock forward Andy Moore issued a warning to his former club Swansea as he finalised a £400,000 plus move to Bridged.

The former Wales captain is alarmed by the maount of players Swansea have let go in recent years and warned them to expect minimal returns next season.

"If you have not got a team or squad right you are going to get hammered," the 26-times capped lock forward told the Western Mail. "I would have to question Swansea's ambition there."

"I have not enjoyed the last 12 months there for whatever reason," he added. "This is a fresh start for me, just what I need.

"A change is as good as a rest sometimes. Now I have made the decision I am excited."

Speculation is rife that Wales captain Colin Charvis and club skipper Scott Gibbs could also be leaving as the club's economic crisis bites hard.

Swansea last week released a state-ment marking a policy shift, saying they would be relying on youth and home-grown players in future.

Tonga scrum-half Silolo Martens, Wales back-row forward Geraint Lewis, Wales A caps Hywel Jenkins and Tyrone Maullin and Lee Jones have already left - and Moore joined them after months of negotiations broke down.

Swansea have only signed three players since Australian John Connolly, the former Queensland and Stade Francais coach was appointed: Australia's reserve scrum-half Sam Cordingley and Neath squad members Richard Francis and John Slade.

Moore also revealed he turned down offers from some of England's leading clubs to remain in Wales and try and win his place back in the national squad after missing the tour of South Africa following a cartilage operation.

"Five of them - Saracens, Harlequins, Gloucester, Bath and Bristol - were really interested but it was not the right time to do that (go to England). I wanted to play in Wales.
