All Blacks retain No.1 ranking
July 1, 2002

Following the latest round of international action New Zealand have retained their position at the top of the Zurich World Rankings.

Three wins for the All Blacks were enough to keep them at their lofty perch whilst Australia's Test series win over France pushed them back into contention for the top two spots with little separating the top three nations of New Zealand, Australia and England.

Clive Woodward's charges saw little change despite their happy sojourn to Buenos Aires whilst Bernard Laporte's France undid much of their good work of the Six Nations with a winless tour to Argentina and Australia.

The 2002 Grand Slam winners slip back down to fifth place making life easy for the Springboks who creep back in fourth almost by default following fairly routine wins over Wales and the Pumas.

Following their upset win over France, it was more good news for Argentina as they continued their form of late 2001 but they needed a win over either England and South Africa to push them above a struggling Wales who just hang on to eighth place.

Next update will be on August 1, 2002.
