Massa no longer trusts Perez
Felipe Massa says he no longer trusts Sergio Perez in wheel-to-wheel combat after the pair clashed at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The two drivers were involved in a big accident on the final lap of the race, resulting in Perez getting a five-place grid penalty for this weekend's race in Austria, which Force India will appeal on Friday. The debate over who was to blame raged between the two drivers in the week following the Canadian GP and Massa said Perez's reluctance to accept culpability concerns him.
"I will think twice [before trying a move]," he said. "I believed he would not move his car [under braking], I believed he would not, but you cannot believe [now] when it's somebody who's causing so many problems, you cannot believe. I will not trust him anymore, definitely, or the car.
"I was very disappointed with him in the hospital because I said it was dangerous and he needed to learn and he just turned and left."
Massa drew comparisons between Perez and Romain Grosjean, who in 2012 built up a reputation for causing accidents and was banned from the Italian Grand Prix after triggering a first corner shunt at the previous round in Belgium. However, Massa does not believe Perez will learn his lesson in the same way.
"If you know the history, most of the time it's always the young drivers that causes these accidents, which is dangerous.
"We saw that another driver [Grosjean] had a lot of problems in the past and he lost a race in Spa because of the accident he caused and he learned. This is something that he [Perez] needs to learn.
"It's important for him, because if I had made the mistake I would have been the first one to say 'I'm sorry', like I always did [in the past]. He doesn't think the same way and I'm sorry for him and I hope he learns otherwise he will pay more penalties in the future."
