Williams confirms cause of Senna's burns
Williams has clarified that the burns suffered by Bruno Senna during the Singapore Grand Prix were not from a KERS-related problem.
Senna was forced to retire on the final lap of the race with his race engineer telling him: "Jump out with both feet from the cockpit. Under no circumstances touch the ground and the car at the same time." It transpired that Senna had lost KERS with 16 laps remaining and Mark Gillan later confirmed that Senna had suffered burns to his back. However, despite the worrying message Williams has taken to Twitter to clarify that the burns were not a result of any KERS issue.
"To confirm, Bruno's burns were due to a wiring loom seal coming loose in the seat allowing heat from back of car to escape - not KERS related," Williams said. "Bruno is here with us today and I can confirm he is 100% fine!"
Senna himself also took to Twitter to confirm that the burns he suffered were relatively minor.
"Hey everyone. The burns on my back weren't serious and are pretty much healed. Today I'm at Williams F1 for some simulator work."
