London Wasps have announced the signing of Italian centre Andrea Masi.

Masi joins the club from Aironi who have been replaced by Zebre for next season's RaboDirect PRO12. With former Wasps centre Dom Waldouck moving to Northampton Saints ahead of next season, Masi will provide essential experience in both the centres and the back three.

Masi took the 2011 Six Nations Player of the Championship award and following spells with Viadana, Biarritz and Racing Metro, Wasps boss Dai Young will be looking to utilise Masi's nous when he arrives at his new club.

"Andrea is a versatile player with proven quality and he will be bringing with him some vital experience from the highest level of the game," Young said. "We are always looking to add real international quality to our squad and I see him as giving us great depth in our back-line."

Masi added: "I am really excited and honoured to be joining such a great European club and I am hoping that I can add something to the club both on and off the field."
