Usain Bolt fired a warning to his rivals ahead of London 2012 as he ran a world-leading time in his first 100m race of the year in Jamaica.

The triple Olympic gold medalist clocked 9.82 seconds to win the 100m at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston to lead home an all-Jamaican podium with Michael Frater and Lerone Clarke second and third respectively.

Bolt's time eclipses training partner Yohan Blake's previous season-leading time of 9.90s set by the world champion three weeks ago.

"It's a good start, I would say," Bolt said."I feel better than last year, so I'm definitely happy with myself. I don't think my execution was perfect, but I think for my first race, it was good."

Not to be outdone, Blake won the 200m in a time of 19.91 seconds, while Carmelita Jeter and Novelene Williams-Mills clocked world-leading times in the women's 100m and 400m respectively. Williams-Mills held off world indoor champion Sanya Richards-Ross to win the one-lap race in 49.99 seconds, while Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu completed the podium.

Other British athletes in action included Tiffany Porter, who finished third in the 100m hurdles, Andy Turner was fourth in the 110m hurdles and Larry Achike took silver in the triple jump.
