Jessica Ennis-Hill has revealed her recovery from an Achilles injury is going well after she was forced to miss this year's World Championships in Moscow.

The Olympic gold medallist did say however that it is taking longer than expected, but is optimistic of returning to action soon after struggling with the injury since triumphing at the heptathlon at London 2012.

"It has been quite a long process, but I am recovering well. It is healing," Ennis-Hill said.

"I have been just following my rehab programme, doing what the doctors and physios tell me to do and getting back into full training slowly. I think every year is a big year in athletics, there is a Commonwealth Games and then another World Championships and then [the] Rio Olympics.

"It does come around really quickly but there is always something really important to focus on each year."
