Mo Farah has been named Britain's male athlete of the year for the fourth time in a row following his historic double at the World Championships.

The British Athletics Writers' Associations 51st annual awards saw Farah scoop the John Rodda Award after adding to his 5,000m and 10,000m Olympic double with the world titles in August - becoming only the second man ever to do so.

Christine Ohuruogu scooped the Cliff Temple Award for women's athlete of the year after her own 400m success in Moscow this summer.

Farrah pipped rising sprinters Adam Gemili and James Dasaolu to the prize, while Perri Shakes-Drayon and 100m hurdler Tiffany Porter came in second and third behind Ohuruogu.

Hannah Cockroft and Richard Whitehead were named Paralympic athletes of the year.
