Ennis impresses in Manchester

Jessica Ennis continued her comeback from injury with victory in the long jump at the Northern Athletics Outdoor Championships in Manchester.
The Sheffield-based athlete, who missed nearly two months of training with an ankle injury earlier this year, produced a jump of 6.24 metres to beat Alexandra Russell by four centimetres.
Ennis, who is bidding to defend her world heptathlon title in South Korea later this year, finished second in the javelin with a throw of 44.81 metres.
Although her attempt was some way off her personal best of 46.71m, Ennis' coach Toni Minichiello was happy.
"44.02m in the last round for Jess, coach is happy with 3 throws over 44m," he wrote on his Twitter page.
