Mitchell's confirms overseas switch

Wallabies and Waratahs winger Drew Mitchell is set to link up with French side Toulon at the end of the current Super Rugby season having turned down a new deal from the Australian Rugby Union.

The 29-year-old has reportedly accepted a two-year deal to play with French Top 14 club Toulon, where he will link up with former Test star Matt Giteau. "I just feel it's the right time for me," Mitchell said. "It's a great opportunity to experience a different culture, to challenge myself in a different environment."

The 63-Test veteran, who will be keen to add to his tally of Test caps in the highly anticipated British & Irish Lions Tour in June and July and the Rugby Championship later in the year, is contracted until the end of the year.

Mitchell made his Super Rugby debut in 2004 for the Queensland Reds against the Highlanders and has since amassed 106 caps between Queensland Reds, Western Force and, most recently, New South Wales Waratahs.

A year after bursting onto the Super Rugby scene Mitchell gained Test selection, debuting against the Springboks in Sydney.

Now entering his ninth international season, Mitchell shares the honour of being Australia's second highest IRB Rugby World Cup try-scorer with 10 tries, equal with David Campese and one behind Chris Latham.
