Battle of Khan's exes as Prescott faces McCloskey

Amir Khan's most recent victim, Paul McCloskey, will face the only man that has ever beaten the WBA champion, Breidis Prescott, in a light-welterweight title eliminator on September 10.
McCloskey suffered a controversial points defeat to Khan when the pair met earlier in the year, after the bout went to the judges' scorecards after just six rounds as the fight was stopped due to a deep cut above the 31-year-old's eyes.
Prescott, however, temporarily derailed the Bolton fighter's career when the pair met back in 2008 - stopping Khan inside a minute of the opening round of their encounter in what was a surprise result.
Now the pair will meet at Belfast's Odyssey Arena, with the winner set to become the No. 1 contender for Khan's WBA title.
"The Amir Khan experience was obviously disappointing but what better way to come back from that than by beating the only man to have ever beaten him," McCloskey's promoter, Eddie Hearn said. "Paul is one win away from another crack at a world title and it's going to be a special night at the Odyssey."
Prescott, who has 19 knockout victories on his resume, is hoping a victory will earn him another chance to put Khan on the canvas.
"I promise that if Amir is watching, and he happened to forget what occurred back in 2008, I will give him a reminder by my performance on 10 September," 28-year-old Prescott said. "I can only hope that after I win, Amir keeps his promise and gets back in the ring with me."
