Khan hits back at Mayweather drug claims

Amir Khan has strenuously denied allegations that he has been using steroids.

Ahead of Khan's unification showdown with Zab Judah on Saturday, Floyd Mayweather Jnr's uncle and trainer Roger Mayweather has claimed the reason for Khan's success is illegal substances.

Roger Mayweather has often fired such allegations in the direction of multi-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao, whose much-anticipated fight with Floyd fell through amid disputes over drug testing. But with Khan now a potential future opponent of Mayweather Jnr, the trainer has now turned his attentions to the Brit.

"The only reason Amir Khan has become the fighter he is, is because he's got those steroids in his ass," Mayweather said. "The same thing Pacquiao's got in him. I know because Pacquiao's camp told me. I talk to them dudes all the time."

Khan puts his WBA light-welterweight belt on the line when he takes on IBF champion Judah in Las Vegas on Saturday, but has protested his innocence and insists he is clean.

"I have been drug tested every time - so many times I've lost count. And I have never failed one of them," Khan said. "I have been tested out of training camp and in training camp - even answering unexpected knocks at my door to comply. I have proved I am a clean fighter.

"One time I was at home in Bolton and there was a knock at my door after my fight against Paul McCloskey. It was the UK drug people and I could have said no to their request but I didn't.

"I let them in, did the test and it was negative like every other test I have ever had. In Los Angeles I have twice been tested and haven't failed, I have shown to everyone that I am clean. I am happy to do anything the drug testers want me to do. I have been in Olympic squads as an amateur so I am very aware of what drug testing involves."
