Froch gets Atlantic City return for Ward showdown
Carl Froch will fight on familiar ground when he takes on Andre Ward in the final of the Super Six after it was announced the super-middleweight unification showdown would take place in Atlantic City.
Froch booked his place in the final when he beat Glen Johnson in June at Boardwalk Hall, and the WBC champion will return to the New Jersey venue when he goes toe-to-toe with WBA champion Ward, who is unbeaten in his 24 fights as a professional.
Froch, who has just one defeat in 29 fights, announced the date and venue on his Twitter page.
"Atlantic City, October 29, can't wait, I'm buzzing! Come on the Cobra army... your support is awesome," Froch announced.
"Not only is it for two world titles, but it's for the tournament trophy and The Ring belt is also on the line," he said later. "It makes this the biggest and the most prestigious fight to happen for as far back as I can remember.
Froch admits that the unbeaten Ward will prove a tough opponent, but he believes he is capable of overpowering the American.
"Ward is a boxer and mover who can be messy up close," Froch said. "I can box when I need to and I have proven time and again that I can fight with the best of them.
"I have my natural fitness, a big heart, experience at the top level and the ability to take a punch. My punching power is far superior to Ward's. This will prove to be the deciding factor."
