British and Commonwealth champion Tyson Fury has taken a swipe at David Haye by rating himself as the best heavyweight to emerge from the UK since Lennox Lewis.

Fury is a veteran of just 16 unbeaten contests, while Haye was the WBA champion until suffering defeat - the second of his career - against Wladimir Klitschko during July. But despite his relative lack of experience, Fury feels ready to rate himself above his rival.

"I'm the best heavyweight to come from here since Lennox Lewis," Fury told the Mirror. "Lennox was an outstanding heavyweight with an incredible jab and I can learn a lot from him. I'll be watching DVDs from him because although I have a good jab I know it can get better. Lennox conquered the best in the world and I know that I can do the same. I'll fight anybody next."

Fury and Haye are unlikely to ever meet in the ring, as Haye intends to retire from the sport in October - unless he lands himself a bout with Vitali Klitschko, the WBC champion, or Wladimir, who has the WBA Super, WBO and IBF titles.

Meanwhile, Wladimir is known to be willing to face Fury - although the Brit feels he is still over a year away from being ready for one of the dominant Ukrainian brothers. He is expected to fight again during November as he continues on the long road he hopes will eventually lead to a world title.
