Pacquiao-Mayweather talks plunged into doubt

Golden Boy Promotions supremo Oscar de la Hoya has hinted that talks between Floyd Mayweather Jnr and Manny Pacquiao are not running as smoothly as has been reported.

Pacquiao, who is promoted by Bob Arum's Top Rank company, said earlier this week that a deal was close and that there were only a few minor details to iron out before a May 5 bout was agreed.

However, De La Hoya - who is usually involved with Mayweather fights, although the American is not contracted to Golden Boy - says the situation is rather more complicated than that.

Arum has been notoriously reluctant to enter negotiations with De La Hoya's outfit - plus he is no fan of Mayweather's.

"Bob Arum, please please stop lying to the public. Sit down with my CEO Richard [Schaefer] and make the big fight happen. Before Manny asks questions," De La Hoya said.

He added on Twitter: "Bob Arum is saying there are a bunch of investors he's talking to [to] try and make Pacquiao v Mayweather. I can't stop laughing. Let's do it!!!!! Golden Boy fighters vs Top Rank fighters. Oh sorry, Bob won't do it."
