Wladimir Klitschko's heavyweight world title defence against Jean-Marc Mormeck has been postponed due to injury to the Ukrainian.

Klitschko, the IBF, WBO and WBA champion, complained of abdominal pain and was admitted to hospital last week, although he initially insisted the December 10 fight would go ahead as scheduled.

However, after having a kidney stone removed at the weekend, the 35-year-old has now been forced to withdraw from the fight after waking up in pain on Monday, although it may be rearranged for another date early in 2012.

"Wladimir is sad, devastated, but he again feels extreme pain," his manager, Bernd Boente, said.

Klitschko was due to make his 20th appearance in a heavyweight title fight against Mormeck, who previously lost to David Haye at cruiserweight back in 2007. Mormeck will now have to wait to see if he will get another chance to take on the Ukrainian.

"The December 10 fight in Dusseldorf is off but maybe it will be just postponed," Mormeck's press officer, Clara Moreno, told Reuters on Monday.
