Dereck Chisora has beaten David Haye in the race to meet Vitali Klitschko next year, according to German newspaper Bild.

Chisora's stock has risen after his impressive performance against European heavyweight champion Robert Helenius earlier this month. Although Chisora lost the fight on points, most observers felt he was harshly treated by the judges.

That was his second defeat in three bouts - the other coming against Tyson Fury - but he had Helenius in such trouble that, even in defeat, his career was boosted.

Haye is now expected to face Vitali later in the year, probably around June; the Brit, who retired in October, felt that any date before then would be too soon for him to perform at his peak.

Chisora has been scheduled to face Wladimir Klitschko, Vitali's brother, on two separate occasions - only for the Ukrainian to withdraw, citing injury.

Vitali, the WBC champion, is expected to have two more fights before retiring to concentrate on full-time politics in Ukraine.
