David Haye is expecting a summer battle with Vitali Klitschko after it was confirmed late on Monday night that Dereck Chisora will be next to meet the Ukrainian in February.

Haye had been in talks with Klitschko about a potential comeback fight, having previously lost to his brother Wladimir. However, he will have to wait patiently in the queue after Chisora, with two defeats in his last three, was preferred by the Klitschko camp.

The Hayemaker is currently retired from the sport of boxing but he has always maintained he could be tempted out by one more big fight. Indeed, it was recently revealed by trainer Adam Booth that the cruiserweight-turned heavyweight had returned to light sparring.

Haye now believes that June could be the month targeted for his second battle with a Klitschko, as he aims to go out on a winning note. That date will now only be cemented by further negotiations with the Klitschko management team.

"The only way I'd come out of retirement is if there is a potential fight with Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko," Haye told Sky Sports News.

"We've been talking to Vitali, he's got another fight scheduled for February or March, so if there is a likely fight between myself and Vitali it wouldn't be until the summer.

"If it's meant to be it'll be. As long as I stay healthy and train hard, if the fight does come about I'll be in the best possible shape and take his title."
