Team Froch confident of Bute clash

Carl Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn expects the Brit to return to action with a world title fight against IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute.

Froch surrendered the WBC crown against Andre Ward on Saturday, losing on points having been outclassed across the 12 rounds in Atlantic City.

But despite struggling to make any impact, Froch is not contemplating retirement, and wants two fights in 2012. The first could be against Romania's Bute, who is unbeaten from his 30 bouts to date.

Hearn said to the Sun: "I met Bute's manager and I think it is a natural fight. I am very confident we can make that fight ASAP. We want to do a two-legged fight, April in Canada and then July or August at the City Ground -- and his people were very receptive to that.

"Things have changed now. We are the challenger rather than the champion so we are not in a position to say 'Come to us'. Luckily, that doesn't matter as Carl has shown he is prepared to fight anywhere. Why should he mind going to Canada, he has fought everywhere else!"
