Amir Khan could be set to move up to welterweight after he was called out for former WBC champion Victor Ortiz.

With Ortiz's February reamtch against Andre Berto called off after Berto ruptured his left bicep, Ortiz is on the lookout for his next fight, and has set his sights on former WBA light-welterweight champion Khan, WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez or former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito.

Taking to Twitter to sound out a new opponent, Ortiz wrote, "Since my fight didn't work out with Berto, I want @AmirKingKhan @caneloalvarez @antoniomargarito let's do this."

However, with Margarito being lined up for a shot at WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez and the 21-year-old Alvarez unlikely to be pitted against 24-year-old Ortiz, Khan looks like the most likely outcome.

Khan has already suggested he would be open to fighting Ortiz at welterweight.

"At 147, definitely, I think it would be an ideal fight for me," Khan said last week. "He did beat Berto and I just heard that his rematch with Berto was called off. Maybe my next fight could be against him, who knows."
