The welterweight showdown between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto has been cancelled after Berto suffered an injury in training.

Ortiz and Berto were due to meet for the second time on February 11th in Las Vegas; Ortiz won the first meeting - and the WBC title - on a unanimous points decision in April 2011.

That bout was considered one of the year's best, with both combatants hitting the floor on two occasions.

"Andre ruptured the same left bicep that he had surgery on previously," Victor Conte, Berto's strength and conditioning coach, told boxingscene.com.

"It's my understanding that he hurt it throwing a short left hook to the head during sparring. Andre is having surgery and I was told that the fight is definitely off."
