WBC right to make example of Chisora - Price

English heavyweight champion David Price feels the WBC had every right to come down hard on Dereck Chisora following his heavily-criticised actions in Munich earlier this month.

Chisora has been handed an indefinite ban by the WBC, having slapped Vitali Klitschko at a weigh-in, spat in Wladimir Klitschko's face and brawled with David Haye at a press conference - all in the space of one weekend.

Promoter Frank Warren has described the sanctions as "outrageous" as Chisora has not been afforded a hearing, but Price sees no problem.

"It's going to be frustrating [for Chisora] but he needs to show responsibility for his actions," Price told Sky Sports News. "The WBC needed to make an example out of someone, just to let the other boxers know it won't be tolerated."

Meanwhile, Price says he is over the disappointment of watching Tyson Fury vacate the British heavyweight title instead of facing him. "I've moved on from Tyson Fury," he said. "Sam Sexton [who he meets on May 19 for the British crown] is a really good fighter and needs 100% of my attention now, I can't dwell on the past."

And looking to the future, Price insists he is in no rush to catapult himself into the world-title picture, despite - or perhaps because of - Vitali Klitschko's claim that he will retire in the near future to focus on politics in Ukraine.

"What we're looking at is a couple of defences of the British title if there's big enough fights out there, then moving up to European level, and then world level," Price said. "[Promoter] Frank Maloney wants to do things the traditional way, get my world ranking up."
