Floyd Mayweather Jnr's fight against Miguel Cotto has seen him receive the biggest guaranteed payment in boxing history.

Mayweather Jnr will receive at least $32 million (£19.8m) for his fight against Cotto on Saturday, according to the fight agreement submitted with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Friday. He is expected to earn many millions more from his share of the pay-per-view revenues.

The previous record was held by heavyweight Mike Tyson, who was guaranteed $30m for his infamous 1997 fight against Evander Holyfield.

"It's the biggest guarantee ever in the history of the sport," said Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who said his company was responsible for guaranteeing the money. "Nobody ever had a guarantee bigger. Floyd is in a league of his own. I think that this shows it again."

Mayweather previously received a guaranteed $25m for his last fight, against Victor Ortiz in September, and $22.5m for his duel with Shane Mosley in May 2010.

Cotto, meanwhile, is guaranteed $8m from the Las Vegas fight - not including his own share of the PPV sales.
