Kell Brook remains confident that an all-British welterweight showdown between himself and Amir Khan will happen, and could not resist taking another dig at the Bolton fighter by saying he needs to 'rebuild' his career.

Brook faces Hector Saldivia in a final eliminator for the IBF title in October and has his long-term sights set on a fight with Khan.

"I think with me and Amir Khan down the line it can happen. I think all the fans want the fight to happen, I want the fight, it's down to him. I think he might need to rebuild a bit on his career after getting knocked out by Garcia, but time will tell," Brook told Sky Sports News.

"I've said for many years now that when me and him do meet I think accuracy beats speed all day, and I think I've got Amir Khan's number. So when we do meet I'd definitely be in there to take him out."

Turning his focus back to the task of Saldivia, Brook said he felt in great shape well ahead of schedule.

"I've got a strong team and we're getting great results. This far out I'm in a great position, the weight is bang on and I just can't wait now. The tickets are flying out, Sheffield Arena will be rocking again, and I'm just waiting for October 20," he said.

"The training's going absolutely superb, no injuries, I'm feeling very healthy and I just can't wait to get back in there and not scare the fans like I did last time out! And put on a mega performance and show why they call me the 'special one'."
