European super-middleweight champion James DeGale will return to the boxing ring on October 13 after changing promoter.

DeGale, the former Olympic gold medallist, has left Frank Warren to sign with Hennessy Sports - whose other fighters include Tyson Fury and Chris Eubank Jr.

The 26-year-old is ready to take the next step in his career, and will begin that with his next fight in October at Bluewater in Kent.

DeGale's opponent for that bout has yet to be confirmed, however.

"I am over the moon with my new long-term promotional deal with Hennessy Sports," DeGale said. "I can't wait to get back in the ring on October 13 and show the millions of viewers on Channel 5 [who will broadcast the fight] what I'm all about.

"The new beginning is a thrilling prospect, so watch this space!"

Promoter Mick Hennessy added: "To already be European champion after only 13 fights is an amazing achievement.

"Our goal is to nurture and enhance James' extreme talent to the highest level and for him to become not only a genuine world champion but also a cross-over star worldwide."
