Pacquiao 'will retire if KO'd by Rios'

Manny Pacquiao's decorated career is "100% over" if he is knocked out by Brandon Rios in Macau, according to his trainer Freddie Roach.

The only eight-division world champion is set to return to the ring for the first time since his brutal knockout defeat by Juan Manuel Marquez in December 2012.

The sixth-round right cross that left Pacquiao motionless in the ring for several minutes consigned the 34-year-old to a second consecutive defeat for the first time in his professional career, on the back of his controversial split decision defeat by Timothy Bradley in June 2012.

But while Roach is not panicking, he is adamant that he will call time on Pacquiao's career should former WBA lightweight champion Rios stop his charge on November 23.

Asked what happens if Pacquiao is knocked out once more, Roach told Yahoo Sports: "It's over, 100%.

"We have a deal - when I tell him it's over, he'll say it's over, and that's it. He's pretty loyal with his words and if that happens, it will be the end."

But while Roach insists he will not allow Pacquiao to carry on getting hurt if his powers are fading, he sees no evidence of decline in training.

"The thing is, people look at the losses and they think the reason is that he's getting old. That's not the case, not from what I see," Roach continued.

"Look, we all thought he beat Bradley, so throw that out. And in that Marquez fight, I thought he was doing well and was looking like he was going to win by knockout when he made a mistake and ran into a shot."

On the subject of signs of decline in Pacquiao's ability, Roach was emphatic.

"None whatsoever," he insisted. "I'd tell you if I did. The minute I think he doesn't have it, when I see that he's not the Manny Pacquiao of old, I'll tell him that's it."
