Fury to fight despite Chisora withdrawal

Tyson Fury insists he will still fight on Saturday despite Dereck Chisora pulling out of their scheduled WBO title eliminator clash with a fractured hand.

The heavyweight duo were set to trade blows at Manchester's Phones 4u Arena with the winner claiming the European title, vacant British title and a shot at Wladimir Klitschko's world title.

However, following the emergence of Chisora's injury, the fight was postponed and a new date is yet to be set. Fury has since confirmed he still intends to fight on the bill, although an opponent has not yet been named.

"It's very frustrating for me that another of my major fights has been cancelled with my opponent pulling out injured," Fury said.

"I have been training for months to get ready for this fight and am in the best condition of my life so for this to happen again - for the third time in such a short space of time - is a big blow.

"Nevertheless, I will be fighting this weekend and my team will find an adequate replacement. Believe me, whoever I face on Saturday they will be in big, big trouble and I will take out my frustrations on them."

It is the third time in less than 18 months that Fury has been left twiddling his thumbs, having twice seen David Haye withdraw from their scheduled fight with injury before cancelling it altogether.

Promoter Frank Warren stated Saturday's show will still go ahead and will now be headlined by middleweight Billy Joe Saunders' European title fight against Emanuele Blandamura, although that could now be topped if a suitable opponent is found for Fury.

It will not, however, be Lucy Bronze - the Liverpool Ladies and England player who Fury mistakenly tagged on Twitter while attempting to rile Deontay 'Bronze Bomber' Wilder.

Fury is set to attend a disciplinary hearing on August 13 to answer a misconduct charge from the British Boxing Board of Control after he erupted into an expletive-filled attack on Chisora, Klitschko and Haye at a recent press conference in London.
