Froch to fight for WBC title against Abraham

Carl Froch has revealed that he will be handed the chance to reclaim the WBC super-middleweight title in his next bout against Arthur Abraham, which takes place in October as part of the Super Six series.
The most recent WBC champion Mikkel Kessler withdrew from the Super Six - which will crown an undisputed king at 12 stone - last week after announcing that he is to rest for a few months to allow an eye injury to heal.
If Froch can snatch the WBC title, and go on to win the unification bout in the final of the Super Six against Andre Dirrell or Andre Ward, then he will be forced to defend that belt against Kessler in the future.
Kessler seized Froch's WBC strap and unbeaten title in controversial fashion when he beat him on points in Denmark earlier this year - and now the Nottingham fighter is desperate to win the belt back.
"This fight with Abraham will be for the WBC title... and will be a straight semi-final. It's good news for me," Froch told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"There's me and Abraham left, and we're fighting. Andre Ward versus Andre Dirrell is the other semi. So in the final, you'll have a WBC-WBA unification fight. After the final, Kessler's got a shot at the WBC.
"Kessler will be what they call the 'marital' WBC champion, which means that Abraham and I are fighting for my old title.
"It means I'll be world champion assuming I do the job properly and Kessler would get a shot at challenging for his old belt back because he vacated it.
"So there's an undisputed world title fight in the final, which will probably be at Madison Square Garden in New York. I've got to do the business in my next fight, or it's curtains."
