Khan open to Maidana rematch after classic tussle

Amir Khan is a wanted man following his phenomenal victory over Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas, and the Briton has not ruled out the prospect of what would be a hugely-anticipated rematch.
Khan and Maidana had the Vegas crowd on their feet as they went the full 12 rounds, with Khan eventually taking a tight decision on the scorecards of the judges. The WBA light-welterweight champion was rewarded for the good work done in the first half of the fight, but it was Maidana who finished the stronger.
After having his legs buckled early, Khan responded to drop Maidana in the first round. However, he found himself on the end of a brutal right hand in the 10th, before Maidana ambushed him against the ropes. Credit goes to Khan after he weathered the storm to clinch victory, but the explosive nature of the fight would make a rematch a significant box-office ticket.
"A rematch? Yeah I think that would be great," Khan replied in the post-fight press-conference. "I think a rematch would be bigger and there are a few mistakes we made in the fight that we wouldn't make again.
"I want to go home and watch the fight with my trainer Freddie Roach. I know I made a few mistakes; sometimes I fight with my heart too much and don't use my brains. I'm still young.
"But I think it'd be a great fight again."
Khan's trainer Freddie Roach has his eye on other bouts, suggesting the champion is one victory away from facing Floyd Mayweather jnr.
