Tyson Fury has revealed a new punishing regime is helping him get into the best shape of his life ahead of his domestic showdown with fellow undefeated heavyweight Dereck Chisora.

The 23-year-old steps into the ring with fellow Brit Chisora for the British and Commonwealth titles at Wembley Arena on July 23.

Standing at a menacing 6ft 9in, Fury has an enviable frame in the heavyweight division. Despite his stature, however, he has not always pushed himself in the gym as he should, meaning he has been entering fights at almost 20 stone.

Regardless of him winning all 14 of his pro fights, Fury has often been pulled up over his physique. However, a new disciplined approach to his training has seen him shed nearly two stone, leaving him feeling in tremendous shape ahead of next month's grudge clash.

"I know I looked like a fat pig before and I thought I could get away with it because I was big enough to keep winning," he said in the Daily Mail. "But now it's getting serious and I realise I have to get rid of the junk food.

"I couldn't go to the cinema without a ton of popcorn, sweets and ice cream and I would lounge around at home shifting bundles of sugar. It never looked as if I'd trained as hard as I do. Now I'm only taking in water, meat, fruit and vegetables, I feel so much healthier and stronger."

Fury's fight with Chisora will be screened on national television and the up-and-coming heavyweight admits he is excited to 'look the part' for the cameras.

"I also look more the part, which is important to me with the big TV audiences coming," he said. "When I sparred with Wladimir Klitschko, he looked like a Greek god. I looked in the mirror and saw this flabby lump.

"No longer. I've found a way now and will make the sacrifices for the few years it takes me to succeed Wladimir as the world champion."

Many believe the fight could go either way, with Chisora also chalking up 14 straight victories in the professional ranks. However, Fury, who concedes "it is a 50-50 fight on paper between two undefeated heavyweights", added: "With God in my corner, I can't fail to win."
