Klitschko v Haye rematch 'out of the question' - Boente

David Haye has bemoaned his inability to "walk the walk" after Wladimir Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente categorically ruled out a rematch between the two fighters.

Haye was comprehensively beaten by the Ukrainian in Germany, losing a lop-sided decision after he failed to find his way inside Klitschko's superb defence. The Brit instantly blamed a broken toe for his lack of explosiveness, but that has been received as an excuse - rather than a genuine cause for defeat - by the mass media.

There has been much talk of a rematch in the aftermath, with Haye claiming he would beat Klitschko when fully fit, whilst also pointing out that there is no bigger payday on offer for the heavyweight champion. Klitschko has not ruled out the possibility, although attention has turned towards the winner of Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury, and manager Boente has now delivered the hammer blow.

Haye stated on Monday: "I'd love the opportunity to try again as the challenger. I hate losing and the way I feel today, if he offered me the fight in November I'd take it."

That would represent a change of retirement plan for Haye, who has always insisted he would quit the sport in October, but Boente has dismissed the request.

"What's the point?" Boente was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph. "That is out of the question now."

It seems Haye's better option would be to target a clash with Wladimir's brother Vitali, having angered both siblings when wearing a t-shirt that featured the Brit severing both their heads. If he gets a second shot at a Klitschko, Haye admits he will have to live up to the hype in order to avoid looking like a fool.

"It is my ego and pride that is hurting more than anything else," said Haye. "You can live with the physical pain but it is the emotional pain that cuts deepest.

"You know what I'm like before the fight, I give it all the big mouth. I talk the talk and normally I walk the walk. On Saturday night I didn't walk the walk and I'm gutted about that."
