Van der Garde wants rain to jump Marussia

Giedo van der Garde is hoping Caterham can take advantage of potential wet weather at this weekend's Korean Grand Prix.

Caterham remains behind Marussia in the constructors' championship due to Jules Bianchi finishing 13th in the Malaysian Grand Prix, while van der Garde and team-mate Charles Pic have only managed a best result of 14th place. With the gap to the midfield still substantial, Caterham's best chance of overtaking Marussia is in the case of a rain-affected race and van der Garde is hopeful Korea could provide the team with that opportunity.

"If it rains this year then it'll definitely be very interesting," van der Garde said. "Our car likes the wet and two of my highlights this year have been on tracks where it's been going from wet to dry, so it would be good if we could have some more unpredictable weather (even though the boys doing the pack up on Sunday probably wouldn't agree with me on that!)"

The early forecast for this weekend's grand prix shows a threat of rain on Sunday as a possible typhoon develops south of Japan.
