Kamui Kobayashi has been confirmed as one of Caterham's drivers for its return to the grid in Abu Dhabi.

Caterham missed races in the United States and Brazil after falling into administration but will race at Yas Marina after a successful crowd-funding project attracted new investment. Before hitting financial trouble Kobayashi's seat had been confirmed on a race by race basis.

Kobayashi, whose return to the grid this season was secured thanks to fan support, paid tribute to those who had pledged to Caterham.

"I would like to thank the fans for supporting the team like they have," Kobayashi said. "This team is working hard and never gives up. I am happy to be racing with the team in Abu Dhabi. It hasn't been an easy last few weeks, so it will be nice to be back to in the car and work together with the Caterham F1 team members."

Kobayashi will have a new team-mate in Abu Dhabi after Marcus Ericsson, who has signed a deal with Sauber for 2015, severed his contract with Caterham last week.

Finbarr O'Connell of Smith & Williamson, joint administrator of Caterham Sports Limited: "The team are delighted to have Kamui on board for the race weekend in Abu Dhabi. The Team commented that Kamui is a highly talented racing driver and he should be in a race car - that's where he belongs. After the recent period of uncertainty for CaterhamF1, the team are delighted, as part of its Restructuring Plan, to be able to showcase the cars again and what better way than with world renowned drivers like Kamui."

Caterham will race in Abu Dhabi despite laying off 230 staff over the weekend, with a skeleton crew of 40 making the journey to Yas Marina.
