Heikki Kovalainen is willing to stay with Caterham beyond 2012 as long as it continues to make progress next season.

The Finn was linked with a move away from the team after a strong season this year, but insisted at the final round in Brazil that he has no plans to drive elsewhere in 2012. However, he told Turun Sanomat that his decision for 2013 would rest on Caterham's performance next year.

"I want to see what we can do together and let's see what is the situation in the summer," he said.

"It depends on the car's performance. I cannot give an exact percentage but if we continue to develop next season then it [the chance I'll stay] is high. Otherwise it is small."
