Petrov encouraged by Caterham ambition
Vitaly Petrov says that he likes Caterham's ambition after joining the team for the 2012 season.
Petrov has replaced Jarno Trulli ahead of the second test in Barcelona, having previously driven for Renault (now Lotus) last year. During his first day at the Caterham factory he told Sky Sports News that the way the team has committed to making progress has convinced him that eventually it will be successful.
"I like the way of the people who are working inside this team because you can see they want to win, they want to come in the top ten and they do everything," Petrov said. "They improve the car, they buy KERS for this year ... they have a lot of new guys working here and this summer they will open a much bigger factory. This shows that this team looks really strong and they have big ambition for the future."
Petrov also said that the improvements made throughout Caterham's opening two seasons gives him motivation to help it try and score its first world championship point.
"The car looks really nice. I like the way of what they're doing. If you remember the last years this team is improving step-by-step and getting close in lap time to another team. This year we will have KERS, we'll have a completely new car and we'll try to get a good result. We'll try to fight with the people in front of us and I'll do my best to score some points for this team.
"We have a really short time to prepare for the next test in Barcelona and I need to analyse what the team did last week in Jerez. I'm ready to work."
