Petrov calm over Caterham future
Vitaly Petrov is not nervous about his future with Caterham, saying that he is meeting the targets the team sets for him.
Following a disappointing end to his second season with Renault (now Lotus), Petrov joined Caterham in February as a replacement for Jarno Trulli. While at the time both Caterham and Petrov looked to the long term, the initial contract is just for this season, and Petrov said that he is hopeful of extending his stay with the team after the summer break is over.
"I think after August," Petrov told F1news.ru. "Now all this talk about driver changes has just started. People talk about Heikki's future, or rumours that Felipe Massa will be kicked out (at Ferrari), so maybe this mess will continue until the end of the season. The main thing is that my team is happy; it says so to the press and to me personally.
"When the team wants something from me and sets me a goal, I'm doing it - and the question is immediately answered. If we were talking about leaving Caterham, or that I could be kicked out, I probably would be a little nervous. But because I have good results, and we work well within a team, I see no reason for that."
