Newport Gwent Dragons have enlisted the services of former Ospreys Head Coach Lyn Jones as a consultant to the region's first team.

Jones, who left the Ospreys at the end of last season, will join up with his new charges immediately and cover the side until the derby fixture with the Scarlets on New Year's Day. Jones' temporary appointment comes as the Dragons search for a permanent assistant coach to work alongside Head Coach Paul Turner.

Turner said, "Lyn and I have had several discussions over the past month in my dealings with Lyn in his role at Ebbw Vale RFC. I believe Lyn would bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our coaching team during the intensive program of fixtures ahead of us."

Jones steered the Ospreys to victory over Leicester Tigers in the Anglo-Welsh Cup final last season, but paid the price for a disappointing quarter-final exit at the hands of Saracens in the Heineken Cup. Since his departure the Ospreys have been coached on a temporary basis by Sean Holley.
